Winter Soldier LiveBlog: The War at Home; Military Families Speak Out

Nancy and Charlie Lessin founded MFSO in Fall 2002 after they saw so many who had said that we HAD to go to war who had no military experience and would not be the ones going to war at all.

MFSO filed lawsuits in order to stop the war; obviously, they did not work. MFSO received email after email from family members who witnessed their loved ones turn into racist warmongers. There were tales of torture, inhumanity, and cruelty by men who, by all previous accounts, were good men. Stan Goff wrote an open letter to the military asking for them to hold on to their humanity; they were not required to hate Iraqis.

MFSO has a membership of 4,000 on US military bases all around the world. Emails pour into MFSO pleading for help with trying to recognize the loved one who came home a different man or woman. Joyce and Kevin Lucie are MFSO members; they testified yesterday . . . gutwrenching testimony that needs to be heard. The cost of the Iraq war is now at $3 Trillion, and that will never be able to account for the loss of human life. MFSO had a major hand in the documentary "The Ground Truth", a DVD I believe that every one must watch: http://www.progressiveu.org/233208-dvd-review-the-ground-truth
